Cave In The Sky was formed by multi-instrumentalist Cye Wood and includes band members Tunji Beier (percussion) and Purdie Wood (vocals).
What began as a collection of simple yet intricate pieces grew into an album that fuses a wide range of sound sources. These include Cye's use of piano, guitar, violin, field recordings and voice, plus essential contributions from Tunji and Purdie, Paul Corley (sound design), Hamish Stuart (drums), James Haselwood (bass), Matt Ostila (percussion/bass) and Simon Green (percussion/harmonica).
The album Sönghellir draws inspiration from both real and imagined landscapes, and was named after an ancient cave located beneath Snæfellsjökull Glacier in Iceland where the final recordings were made.
It was completed at Greenhouse Studio by Paul Corley (mixing) and Valgeir Sigurdsson (mastering) and released by the Swedish label 1631 Recordings.
